Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.✨

First Impressions~

Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt presents an engaging mix of heartwarming moments and intriguing mystery. While my initial expectations were high due to the book's much-discussed hype and promising description, I found myself not completely enamored by it. However, a 3.5-star rating by my standards is indeed commendable. Although I don't foresee revisiting this tale, it provided an enjoyable one-time experience. It's important to note that despite my rating, I did find genuine pleasure in reading this book. The novel's readability was a standout aspect, which was especially significant for me as a reader with dyslexia. The author's skillful writing style further added to the overall positive impression.

Enjoyment ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I derived genuine enjoyment from Remarkably Bright Creatures, meriting a solid four stars. The narrative's charm and feel-good elements were well-executed, offering an inviting atmosphere that was hard to resist.

Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️

With a three-star rating, the general plot premise was enjoyable, though occasionally predictable. The book managed to retain its appeal despite moments of predictability, ensuring that the plot's predictability didn't undermine its overall impact.

Characters ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Among the characters, Tova emerged as a standout figure, endearing herself with her connection to the author's real-life grandmother. Tova's presence significantly elevated the book's quality. On the other hand, Cameron, the other central character, felt somewhat underdeveloped, failing to match the depth I was hoping for, especially considering his history of trauma. His transformation seemed slightly unrealistic, given the circumstances. It's worth mentioning that there were potential layers to his character, possibly indicating traits like ADHD or giftedness, although these aspects weren't thoroughly explored beyond his impressive knowledge base. Marcellus, the octopus, provided a delightful surprise and added a layer of depth that left me wishing for more chapters from his perspective.

Thought Provoking ⭐️⭐️

While the book didn't strongly prompt introspection, it did manage to keep me engaged on a thoughtful level. A two-star rating reflects this moderate level of thought-provoking content.

Ease of Reading ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The book shines in terms of accessibility, boasting a five-star rating for its ease of reading. As a reader with dyslexia, I appreciate works that prioritize readability without sacrificing quality.

World Building ⭐️⭐️.✨

The world-building was a mixed bag, meriting a two-and-a-half-star rating. While it provided enough backdrop to immerse myself in the story, there were moments where deeper exploration would have heightened the overall experience.

Writing ⭐️⭐️⭐️

With four stars, the writing style showcases the author's skill and competence, contributing significantly to my overall enjoyment of the book.

Ending ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The conclusion of "Remarkably Bright Creatures" receives a three-star rating. While not extraordinary, it satisfactorily tied up loose ends and provided a fitting closure to the narrative.

Closing thoughts~

Remarkably Bright Creatures offers a delightful fusion of heartwarming and mysterious elements. While it may not have fully met my initially high expectations, it succeeded in delivering an enjoyable reading experience. Its accessible writing, captivating characters like Tova, and moments of thoughtfulness make it a worthwhile addition to any reading list.

Happy reading!
