I had an incredible reading month in November, finishing 8 books despite a very busy schedule! This month, I particularly enjoyed audiobooks while starting a new crafting project, Diamond Art, which I highly recommend for fellow audiobook fans. Among the 8, there are 8 standout books that are must-adds to your TBD shelf! Let’s dive into these top picks and see why they're worth your time. Here's my November Wrap Up!
What I Read This Month
I finally was able to get to "The Fourth Wing" just in time for the sequel, "Iron Flame", to be released. I'm still waiting for my copy from the library so don't share any spoilers!! The span of the books covered a wide variety of genres and lengths. Three books were 5 stars, three books were 4 stars, one book was 3 stars and one book was 1 star.
2. "1984" - Sandra Newman*
3. "Living Dead In Dallas" - Charlaine Harris (re-read)
5. "The Woman in Me" - Britney Spears
6. "Correction" - Ben Austen
7. "Club Dead" - Charlaine Harris (re-read)
8. "The Shadow of Banshee Hill" - Fionn Mac Meldrum
* a note about my 1 star rating - "Julia"- Please check out my review for why this was. Others may enjoy the story but I found the sexual content too much for me.*
4 Books You Should Add to Your TBR Shelf
There were 4 standouts this month that will grab your attention!!
1. "The Woman in Me" - Britney Spears
If you haven't yet caught wind of it, Britney Spears' new book, 'The Woman in Me', is making waves. You can delve into my detailed review here, but to give you a quick summary: it reveals many previously unknown facets of her journey. The media, her father, and her own family, the book exposes, have treated her HORRIBLY. I highly recommend diving into her book, whether you choose to read or listen. By engaging with her words directly, you'll gain a deeper understanding of her struggles and a newfound empathy for her experiences.
2. "Correction" - Ben Austen
This book is an essential read, highly recommended for anyone wanting to expand their general knowledge about our criminal justice system. It provides vital insights into an often overlooked aspect of society: the deeply flawed nature of our correctional system. The issues it highlights are more pervasive and entrenched than I initially understood, making it a crucial piece of literature for broadening one's awareness on this important topic. 3. "Starter Villain" - John Scalzi
Attention, cat enthusiasts! Prepare for a hilarious adventure featuring spy cats and talking dolphins! This book was an absolute delight and far exceeded my expectations. It was chosen for one of my book clubs, and I couldn't have been more thrilled with the selection. Plus, 'Starter Villain' is currently a finalist in this year's Goodreads Choice Awards for 'Best Science Fiction.' Guess who has my vote? 😉
4. "The Shadow of Banshee Hill" - Fionn Mac Meldrum
The fantasy book you've been missing!! Immerse yourself in 'The Shadow of Banshee Hill,' where Irish folklore and Celtic mythology are woven into an enchanting narrative. The author's masterful writing style challenges and enriches, creating complex characters like Cillian and Emily, who evolve intriguingly throughout the story. This novel is a breath of fresh air, offering a captivating and unique journey that completely envelops its readers. Review my full review here!
