Welcome, everyone, to 'Pages, Pixels, and Playbacks.' This blog series is my weekly digest, a straightforward blend of thoughts and reflections on the books, TV/Film/YouTube, and music that filled my week. It's about what caught my eye, piqued my interest, or stirred my emotions. Every week, I'll break down what I read, watched, and listened to. So, if you're curious about what I'm reading, watching, and listening to, or you're looking for recommendations you're in the right place. Let's dive into this week's collection of pages, pixels, and playbacks.
Overview: This week was a standout in my reading journey! I managed to complete four books, balancing my love for the imaginative realms of fiction with the enriching insights of non-fiction. The highlight of this period has been my deep dive into audiobooks, a purrfect companion for my thrice-weekly commutes that total four hours each day.
Mood/Theme: During my morning drives, I've found that starting with an intellectually stimulating audiobook really helps wake me up. But this Thursday, I needed something with more energy to kickstart the day, so I switched it up and played my favorite punk playlist.

Pixels (Watching)
Honestly, TV hasn't been much on my radar this week. With my schedule packed with reading, work, commuting, and the essential task of sleeping, my energy to tune into regular shows has been pretty low. But here's the twist – I've found myself captivated by gaming content creators, especially those dabbling in the horror genre. It's an unexpected turn, even for me! Who would've guessed that watching video game streamers navigate through eerie, spine-tingling horror games would be my new go-to entertainment?
Favorites this week include:
Insym playing "Lethal Company"
Hollow playing "The Last of Us" Remake on PS5 *I know I know I'm late to the party!*
Gab Smolders playing "Home Safety Hotline"
Gab Smolders had the most interesting game for sure! "Home Safety" Hotline" was a weird little game where you work at a call center diagnosing callers home concerns, yet some of the concerns her mystical and magical problems. Insym also does a play through that was fun to watch!
Playbacks (Listening)
This week's stress nudged my music preferences toward the lighter, more soothing side. I found solace in my spa playlists, the ethereal tunes of Loreena McKennitt, and the gentle strums of indie and folk music. But Thursday demanded a shift – I craved the raw energy of punk music, a delightful anomaly in my week. Fleetwood Mac also graced my ears, adding their timeless rhythm to my days. Then came Saturday: Spotify seemed to read my mood, serving up a curated mix featuring the vibrant voices of Lady Gaga, P!nk, Ashlee Simpson, and Avril Lavigne. Amidst all this, my metal collection must be wondering where the love went – sorry, not this week!
Closing Thoughts
As this week closes, I'm reminded that our choices in media—what we read, watch, and listen to—shape our days in subtle but significant ways. From calming playlists to the unexpected energy of punk tunes, and the immersive world of gaming, it's these varied experiences that color our routine. So, here's to embracing the eclectic mix that defines each of our weeks. Until the next post, keep exploring, enjoying, and maybe even stepping outside your usual playlist.
